Plumbee
Kenya
Plumbee is a social enterprise, co-founded and headed by June Muchuku, focused on combating childhood malnutrition by producing high-quality, affordable fortified foods through a cooperative partnership model that empowers women in the food value chain. With 26% of children under five stunted, especially in underserved counties, Plumbee addresses this challenge by integrating women and youth into sustainable agricultural value chains. They establish solar-powered micro-processing hubs and a centralized manufacturing facility to improve nutrition and economic resilience. Women play an active role, cultivating nutrient-rich crops, managing processing hubs and directly contributing to the production of nutritious meals for children.
Plumbee will leverage RAMA Impact’s financial and non-financial support to create 35 additional jobs (boosting women’s income by 140%), reach an additional 215,000 children with healthy nutritious meals and increase its revenue by 380% over a 30 month period.
