Girl Farms Hub

Ghana

Girl Farms Hub is a woman-owned social enterprise founded by Thamar Victoria Afedu-Annan, addressing post-harvest loss, limited value-addition opportunities for women and smallholder farmers, and the lack of healthy, preservative-free foods in the market. The enterprise transforms underutilized but nutrient-rich crops, including date fruits, beetroot and miracle berries, into innovative health foods such as syrups, functional powders, infusions and natural sweeteners. Its model integrates climate-smart sourcing, local food processing, circular production and inclusive market distribution, including repurposing production by-products into animal feed and using eco-friendly packaging to reduce waste. Through this approach, Girl Farms Hub advances food security, improved nutrition, circularity and women’s economic empowerment across the agricultural value chain, while creating dignified local jobs for women and youth.

Girl Farms Hub will leverage RAMA Impact’s financial and non-financial support to increase its production capacity by 40% and its revenue by 50%, while creating 4 additional jobs for women in underserved communities and onboarding 15 additional famers into their supply chain. The social enterprise will increase up-cycling of date, beetroot and miracle berry residues by 45%, up-cycle at least 500 kg of production and agricultural waste into secondary products such as animal feed and organic inputs, export 20% of its production and secure at least 10% of its fundraising target, over a period of 10 months.
