UZURI K&Y Ltd
Rwanda
UZURI K&Y Ltd is a women-led social enterprise co-founded and headed by Kevine Kagirimpundu, dedicated to producing eco-conscious African footwear. This B corp certified venture repurposes recycled materials, primarily discarded tires, into high quality, stylish, durable shoes, while generating dignified employment opportunities for youth and women through hands-on training in sustainable manufacturing. The enterprise aims to position Africa as a global leader in sustainable fashion through a mix of direct-to-consumer sales, B2B partnerships, and regional exports that blend environmental impact with inclusive economic growth.
UZURI K&Y Ltd will use RAMA Impact’s financial and non-financial support to produce an additional 4,000 pairs of shoes, up-cylce over 500 discarded tires – diverting them from landfill or open burning and thereby preventing an estimated 50 to 100 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions, increase its revenue by 15% through expanded regional exports, create 15 additional jobs for women and youth from underserved communities and up-skill existing staff to foster their development, over a period of 18 months.
