Eco-Me Africa
Ghana
Eco-Me Africa is a woman-led social enterprise founded by Amdiya Abdul Latiff, addressing period poverty, plastic pollution and unemployment through EcoPeriod, a reusable, high-quality sanitary pad crafted from sustainable, organic fabrics. Unlike conventional single-use pads laden with harmful chemicals and taking up to 800 years to decompose, EcoPeriod offers a cost-effective, eco-friendly alternative that lasts up to three years. By providing a dignified and affordable menstrual solution, Eco-Me Africa not only enhances menstrual health but also increases girls’ school attendance and generates employment within its manufacturing and distribution network, ultimately helping lift women, girls and communities out of poverty.
ECO-Me Africa will use RAMA Impact’s financial and non-financial support to produce an additional 15,000 EcoPeriod kits (helping reduce school absenteeism among girls and empowering them to regain their self-esteem), increase revenue by 50% (including digital sales), create 9 additional jobs, continue to make a positive environmental impact through reduced landfill waste and expand its efforts in menstrual health advocacy and education campaigns, over a period of 18 months.
